If I install Tweaking on another desktop, can I remove my hard drive that will not boot and use tweaking to restore boot drive?

Please provide detailed info; it is urgent matter!

Did what steps?

If you backed up the registry on the system with my reg backup program you can restore the registry even if you cant boot :-)

using your dos_restore.cmd "which file does it restore"

backup_info.txt
log_backup.txt
log.vss.txt

for example, I can change the drive letter to the boot drive this way:

if I know, then I can edit the file to the drive on the working desktop

THANK YOU

You run the dos_restore.cmd

It then restores the files in the folder, the txt files are just logs for you thats all.

When you run the reg backup it puts a file in the Windows folder. The dos file looks for that file so it knows which correct drive letter to restore to from dos in case the letters dont match up as normal :-)

If the dos one isnt working then try the live cd trick (last video on this page)

Are you saying that: if I run this command from a repair window using the Install disk, it will work?

Or

If I put the Corrupt Drive in Another System as the Slave Drive, and then run the DOS_RESTORE command that, it will restore the System Files on the Slave Drive.

If I install tweaks on another system, and point to the backup files needed now to restore on the slave drive, they do not display as restore options; any chance we can get them to display and then point them back to the slave drive as an option. "Is that re-dun dent from running the DOS_RESTORE Command?"

No, what I am saying is the way I have the regback save the registry is by the full folder path. This way you can do an easy copy and paste restore if you can access the files from somewhere else.

Such as a live cd or putting the drive into another machine as a secondary drive, or anything that will give you access tot he drive and copy and paste functions

Yes, I removed the drive; put it on another system as the slave drive. Copied the files; but now my system has black screen boot problem... "The reason it now ha the black screen issue is from over a year ago". but I had re-stalled everything long ago and setup a dual boot sytem for safety...

Let us take a step back, remember my system was booting in D:\ (but I only backed up the registry for the C:\ "Plus I remember us discussing that your current program only backs up one registry. It does not support dual booting).

For example,

"I had made the mistake too copy the file to the C:\"

So now, how to fix the issue is?

WinPE for Vista: it does not work for 64 yet

http://www.multipe.exec-se.de/Documentation/multiPE/StartUp.htm

After boot, it says we can restore an old registry...

Let us have a try...

Copied them to both drives, reran the startup disk to check any issues

= No Luck with this method

Have also got the message once from th einsta ll disk it restored the old system files, that only left us nack with the black screen.

The issue with the black screen? it boots up, but seems to not refresh after it starts...

still checking =

The all in one needs Windows to run. It is made in VB and needs to proper runtimes.

One thing I plan on looking into down the road is to be able to run it on a system that has Windows on another drive. This would be great for techs. Hook in a Drive from another system that doesnt boot and tell the Windows repair which drive and it does the work.

But that is a huge task and is something I want to aim for. Right now it adds reg keys, works with permissions and such of the system that is currently running. I have to find a way to load the reg from an offline Windows and have it work with it. Again something that I think can be done down the road :-)

Getting back to hear/here;

I did a surface scan and found BAD Sectors, this means we need a new hard drive! period....

For reference, chkdsk DOES not repair file to their original state;

we must look in each chkdsk folder saved on th ehard drive and copy thos files from the restore disks...

Probably a root cause of Black Screen issue!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mission fianlly accomplished !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are some small things, but using All in one can be easily remedied now!
We can review all the steps I took, create a rescue disk, or better yet, an online remote resue service!
No, that was not my intentions, I had sever nuclear holocast boot startup!

Slowly, we will fix

URGENT MATTER.

thanks in advance

Special thanks to Shane and ,e,ners who contributed to help me solve this issue!
