Hello Forum!

  It's been a while. Sooooooooooo.........stay with windows 7 or move to windows 8? What do you guys think?  I'm still if'y. Can't make up my mind.

I tried 8, went back to 7.

8 has less sales than vista lol. There are some nice things about 8, it isnt slow. But the UI is a nightmare and Windows 8 is VERY easy to break.

They rushed it out the door because they wanted a slice of that app store pie.

I myself have gone back to 7 and very happy with it lol.

Windows 8.1 is the fastest Windows I ever seen.
Settings are mixed between modern UI and desktop, and in my imagination desktop should be removed as it is expected now.

But for me light is better. No more headaches for an already optimized OS.

My beef with 8 is the UI and how easy it is to break, because of the DRM. But 8 is faster than 7. I will see how 8.1 looks once it is out in Oct :-)

I am doing something different tonight.

I have a good copy of Windows 2012 server.

I am going to install it in place of my Windows 7 and convert it into a desktop. I hear it runs even faster than Windows 7 or 8.

If I dont like it I will go back to 7 again lol

Dumped 2012 and went back to 7 lol.

I made a full image before I did just in case. While 2012 was fast it was missing a lot of things that I had to manually hack and put back on. And even then there was a lot missing.

The one thing I liked was the task bar with multiple monitors. Thankfully I found a program to do that on 7.

I have to say I have no desire to move from 7 just yet. Havent even tried 8.1 yet, but who knows. Right now I need to work, and everything works the way I need it on Windows 7 :wink:

Any Review of your own regarding the windows 8.1?
I work for a big school each kid have got windows 7 laptops, we are thinking to switch over to windows 8.1 in March'2014.
do you think is a good idea to follow?

I haven't tried 8.1 yet and so far I love my Windows 7 compared to 8.

8.1 will only bring back a simple start menu and such, a lot of the UI changes they made are horrible, while some core OS changes are nice. (This is with 8 not 8.1, havent tested 8.1 yet)

In all honestly it is the UI more than anything I hate. But just like office, if they stick with it you will have no choice. 7 is great and will be for the next couple of years, but just like XP will become outdated.

8 is their test bed for the new UI. Just like vista was and then 7 came out with a ton of bugs fixed and things tweaked and so much better. I am willing to bet Windows 9 will be pretty good, only because that seems to be the method of MS.

Windows 95 - Good
Windows 98 - Bad
Windows 98 SE - Good
Windows ME - Bad
Windows XP - Good
Windows Vista - Bad
Windows 7 - Good
Windows 8 - Bad
Windows 9 - If it follows trend may be good.

The fact that there are more vista machines than Windows 8 give you an idea. And again it isn't the core oS, it is fast. But they went and took what the users know and throw it out the window, horrible mistake.

I miss Bill Gates being in charge of the OS :-)

We need a tech in charge not a business man.

The whole interface changes was to force users to use their App store. It was all for $$$ and it cost them instead so far. Lets see if they can make it better.

I have tried the windows 8 but didn't find it better than 7 especially I have Office-2013 and I don't even like the color scheme.
It looks like programmed by zombies...oooowwaaaa....
