Help line never replies to email Cannot back up Registry
Hugh Pratt:
Just to update you.
The page https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c03736054 is partly correct.
By putting in CD and pressing escape was able to bet to boot settings.
My computer was on legacy mode, (Win7), and already set to boot from CD, usb etc etc. Disabling Legacy as well meant that when it booted from CD.
Then I could select Repair but it could not repair which makes me think it was repairing not from the CD but the software in the computer.
it just stopped at Windows logo for 30 mins and hung up.
I am a bit frustrated.

Which part of the article is incorrect ?
Let me know which version of Windows you are using.
Go Start - right click on Computer and select Properties.
This will tell you the version and whether you are using 32 or 64bit.
It could be the install disk so if you PM me your address, I'll burn you a couple of universal install disks which include SP1 and then you can try either of those.
The local Post Office is only open until about 12.00 on a Saturday so I'd appreciate it if you could let me know those details soonest for me to post the disks to you tomorrow.
Hugh Pratt:
Tom
Thanks - you are too kind!
64 bit - Windows 7 Professional
Thanks again, Hugh
Hugh Pratt:
Yes
Service Pack 1 also!
Boggin:
Hi Hugh - thanks for those.
I'll burn them off now.
While the original Win 7 ISO that I downloaded was for Pro, I've removed the ei.cfg file which converts it to an universal install ISO.
BTW - I've removed your address from your post after making a note of it because this is an open forum.
That's why I asked you to PM me your address.
