Boggin:
I've removed your email address from your post as this is an open forum and you could get all sorts of crap being sent to you.

As a Moderator I can see the email address that you registered with.

See if you get any errors with the registry back up in Safe Mode with Networking.

If you do, go Start - type cmd and right click on it when it comes up and select Run as administrator then enter sfc /scannow to see what it reports.

Hugh Pratt:
Says Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but could not fix them.

Unable to upload  the  7 Mb log. Do you want to see it? I can upload to dropbox?

Many thanks again!

Hugh

Boggin:
Are you using a branded machine or one which was purpose built ?

You would need a suitable Win 7 install media to resolve that error.

Hugh Pratt:
I have a HP Pavilion Laptop and I have the media.

What do I need to re-install?

When using other software, such as Revo Pro - it is able to back up registry!

Boggin:
If your install media includes SP1 then tap F12 as you switch on then use the cursor keys to select the DVD drive - insert the media and press enter.

Tap any key when prompted to boot from CD or DVD and you will be presented with an inverse screen with Windows Setup [EMS Enabled] highlighted.

Press enter and when it has loaded the files, use the dropdown to change/confirm the Time and currency format and click on Next.

On the Install screen select Repair your computer.

This will locate the partition the volume is loaded into - Next.

Select Command Prompt and enter bcdedit |find "osdevice"

For clarity that is a Pipe symbol before find and is the uppercase of \

This will confirm the partition letter.

Mine is C: so I'll use this as an example but use your partition letter if different and enter this cmd -

sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\Windows

Note the space before each /

This will check your file system against the install disk and will take a while to run.

Let me know what that reports.
