Hi - I get this message.  I do not know why.  Machine seems to operate OK - sometimes a tad slow.
See attached message and event viewer.
What is it and how can I resolve it.  Thanks.

OK, so this means that I should write the ISO ti DVD disc and go to that disc and run setup.com on that disc?  Or, is there some way to do it directly with the ISO image.

Yes, me too.  So, Tom, waht would you suggest I do now.  As I said, I have downloaded the new ISO W7 64b Ultimate to my C drive.

Hi Tom - Now it is 5 20 PM Friday.  I stopped it as it was still at 86%.
Something was wrong.  I am downloading a new ISO to my C drive.
I await you instructions.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Tom,

I it snow 10 50 AM. 

Yes, it is with the Dell disc.
 
Friday and still at 86%.   The machine is processing as the TM shows between 20 and 25% CPU use (moving back and forth and the little progress dots are moving.

I will continue to wait.

ok NOW IT IS 10 pm tHURSDAY HERE AND IT IS AT 86% OF THE "GATHERING FILES, SETTINGS AND PROGRAMS" PHASE OF THE REPAIR.

Hi Tom,

It has been going since yesterday.  Earlier this morning it was on stage 2 and 49% done.  Now it is at 53% done.  So, I have adjusted to the idea that it will not be done until tomorrow.  That is good as long as things get fixed.

I did what you said:  Went to the disc and opened the setup.  There was one odd message near the start about a DLL.  See attachment.

No, I and Win 7 Ultimate 64b.

OK, Tom.

Maybe I did not give you enough info.

The firs time I downloaded the ISO the file was too short, so I immediately downloaded again and it was longer.

Sure enough when I tried to make the DVD with the first download, the MS DVD creator said "invalid ISO".
So, when I tried with he second one, the DVD was created "OK."  <--- this is the one that only gave me a blinking cursor.

So, frustrated, I went through every disc I had and found a backup of the original Dell disc that I made years ago.
This booted up to the loading files point and I stopped it.  I am just wondering why I kept this disc separate from all my other W7 install stuff.  I can not remember. I am trying to remember if there was anything wrong with this disc.  Can't think of anything.

So, now, should I use this old disc or should I use the newly downloaded one with a live Win 7 going on the machine?

... well, I thought about this for a while and decided to see what would happend by booting to the found disc.

I booted and it loaded files and gave me option to repair system on the "e" drive --- no other windows on system so I figured it made my C into and "e" drive.

But, now I am at a point where I have more choices and do not know which one to shoose:

SYSTEM REPAIR (says it has to do with Windows starting problems --- so not sure here)
SYSTEM RESTORE (i DO NOT HAVE A RESTORE DISC)
SYSTEM IMAGE RECOVERY (NEEDS EARLIER CREATED SYSTEM IMAGE WHCH i DO NOT HAVE)
MEMORY
COMMAND PROMPT

I will await your further instructions, Tom.  I willjust leave the system like this until I hear from you.

Hi Tom,

Some kind of problem.
On bootup the machine asked "press any key to boot from cd or dvd"
I did that and the machine read the disc for a while, but did not display any messages or list any files loading.
There was just a blinking cursor for 10 minutes.
should i have tried to load it from the existing system running?

Hi Tom - I ran into a problem creating the DVD from ISO:  No authority; see message.
But, I got around that by using another machine as the ISO was on NAS.
I will attach a partial list of the drivers folder in the next post.
Am installing now.

Hi Tom - I tried just brining that folder to a USB, but still system would not let that happen.  BTW, that driver folder is 6GB; is that not a little large for drivers?

OK, I ran the backup.  I was not sure which to use.  Macrium Reflect was what I was usning after Aomei kept hanging in 2017.  But Macrium was slow and kept my whole system hostage.  I thought of using
Ashampoo2020 but once I installed it, it seemed complicated and I could not direct it to a local drive and it could not attach to my NAS.

I read AOMEI cleaned up their act so I used AOMEI.  Fast and an improvedment over the AOMEI of the past; no hanging.

But, I can not get the drivers from the System32 folder that you mentioned.  System is not allowing copy to local or to NAS.  So I am keeping my fingers crossed that the AOMEI will be good.

I will do the OSA fix in a little while and report back to you then.

Hi tom,

Safe mode does not allow creation of folder or text file, but the message is different:  Can not find/load module.

Re article:

I disabled the antivirus - no change.

BTW, I can not create a restore point in Safe mode; but I can in normal mode.
There was a strange message when I did --- attached in next post.

I tried methods 4 in the Auslogistics message you cited.  No change.

Then, I tried method 3 in the Auslogics message you cited; did this after 4 because it seemed more complicated.  But, not able to execute reg script.  See message in next post.  I did iw one with the "Windows Registry editor ..." as the first line, but I got message "not a registry script"  Then, I eliminated the first line and tried again.  Same result.  Not a registry script.

One more thought.  I could not take ownership of C; it would not let me; however, I went on the C drive and took ownership of each individual folder.  So that is what I meant by my answer.  FWIW

Hi Tom,

I am thinking that maybe it is the attachments.

I have Win 7 64b Ultimate; supposed to be that same as professional.

I did what you said and now I am genuine. 

Observation:  Browser can download to the C drive; Irfanview can save files to C drive (documents); but, I can not create a folder on the desktop.  I still get the 340 error message.

I have this iobit scanning program that must have gotten installed with the anti-virus update (Avast).  Annoying.  Don't know if I should uninstall or not; is it part of the antir-virus?

I will now follow ypu instructions to make the alt admin account and will report right after I do that.

Hi - I could not delte the CBS.log file; couldnot rename it or move to documents folder.

Yes, I have the original product key, but about two years ago I got "not genuine"; I called MS and they gave me another key which worked for about a year --- then not genuine again.  Called MS but all they had was an online thing; I played with the online thing and entered keys, etc; but, that alsolet me not genuine; I called MS again and got sent to some place about getting a key for MS Office --- they did not know anthing else about key for W7.

I have W7 64 bit OS.
