Are you running "Microsoft security essentials" anit-virus?. Mpfilter.sys is part of that program. Try uninstalling this if you have it installed, then re-install it, or better yet, use the free version of avast.  Before you remove anything, perform a system restore back up. Always better to be safe in case something goes wrong.

Hi,

First you need to find out what is causing the crash. There is a tool called "WhoCrashed" you need to install it. After you have the crash, reboot and run this tool, it will tell you what happened.

Here is the link for the tool.

This should help figure out what is crashing.

Good Luck

Yeah i noticed that about avast. If I do make the move. Do your tweaks, such as networking etc.. still work? Or are they even need in windows 8.1?

Hi G-hot,

If I were you, I would un-install java and not reload it. It is incredibly unsecured. Unless you absolutely need it to access certain website functions, I wouldn't use it.

Glad to here you got .net working.

Which tweaks did you run? The program should show which ones you ran. Looks a tweak from "xp tweaks only" and it looks like just a short cut.

Hi enduser.

Are you talking about the system tray on bottom right in the task bar. I don't think any of Shane's tweaks do that. He does have tweaks that will un-hide the system tray though (so you can see everything running). That's why I ask about the task bar. If this is not what you are seeing, can you possibly post a screen shot of the monitor icon you are referring to, with out showing the contents of your system of course.

I forgot to mention. :omg:  Before you do this, run a system restore back up first. You never know what could happen. Best to be cautious.

Take care

You may need to uninstall .net framework then reinstall. Check out the link below for removal

Hi Shane,

I want to remove my cd rom drive ( I don't ever use it, except to load windows). What is the best way to put my windows 7 home premium sp1 disk on USB?

Chris

Have you tried the " force unsigned driver installation "option in safe mode yet?

Chris

I had a problem recently on a new build and the drivers for usb 3.0 would not load (I have six ports and none would work). To get it to work I had to boot into safe mode (should be F8) and choose "force unsigned driver installs". Windows will boot, then try to install usb drivers. Once you reboot, this safety feature will be enabled again. I don't know why I had to do this because my drivers were digitally signed but this was the only way around it. As always, perform a back up or system restore first! I hope this helps

This might help me get under my video for a connection. I think it's a viable option. What do you think?

I have a open slot in my case right above first video card. the X1 slot is under video card 1 but in the second slot position.

That slot for the sound card is blocked. So that card you sent me could not be used in the pcie slot?

Hey Shane,

I need a sound card but my video cards (crossfire) block the PCI and PCIEx1 slot. I do have another PCIEx16 slot. Will a PCI x1 soundcard work in the x16 slot?

Everything Else / Re: Prime 95?

Aida64 and overdrive do use all cores to the max. I wonder exactly what is different. So maybe I'll try prime 95 when not overclocked.

Everything Else / Prime 95?

Hey Bud,

As you know I just built a new system with the FX 8320 and Asrock's new 990fx extreme 9 motherboard. I have overclocked this to 4.620 ghz (using the multiplier and fsb) with 1.365 volts with LLC set to 50% which ramps voltage up to 1.406 volts when under full load. Now using AMD's overdrive stress tester and AIDA64 stress tester for 6 hours a piece it passes with flying colors. If I use prime 95 it will fail immediately. So to further test I have been playing hours of crysis 3 and battlefield 3 and the system has been running for 7 days straight without shutdown while also using the system for normal use and no problems at all. My question is this. Is Prime 95 outdated and just not necessary for modern CPU's? I understand that it's possible that I haven't hit the right circumstance to crash my system, but so far so good? What do you think?

My core temps never go higher than 50 degrees celsius

General Computer Support / Re: Usb 3.0 Problems
« on: August 24, 2013, 10:17:10 pm »
Okay I got it figured out. :cheesy:  I had to "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" under the advanced boot options in order to install the Etron USB 3.0 host controller driver. The question now is, why on earth would Asrock allow an un-digitally signed driver to be used as the excepted drivers on the motherboard CD or at their website?  Anyway, all is well now.

General Computer Support / Usb 3.0 Problems
« on: August 22, 2013, 09:09:58 pm »
Hey bud,

I am having a problem with onboard USB 3.0. I have 4, and none work. My motherboard is the Asrock 990fx Extreme9 (this board overclocks like a champ!). When I try to install the Etron USB 3.0 drivers I get a message saying that driver software was unsucessful. Etron will show it is installed on windows ( I have removed it and re-installed). The first pic below shows what happens with no drivers installed, but the USB 3.0 controller is enabled in the bios, and it stays that way even with etron installed. There is power going to the ports ( I checked with my micro Cruzer USB stick, it lite up briefly). Any idea how to fix this.

Yeah let me know guys. If it it's easier to use and less prone to break, I'll move to it.
