Tweaking.com Support & Help / log
« on: January 27, 2013, 07:21:08 am »
I am sending another log as both reds lite up and the fallback only worked.
If I am the only one with this problem, please let me know so I can stop sending logs to you.
If others are having issues I will continue to appraise you.
Peter

Tweaking.com Support & Help / uninstall
« on: January 26, 2013, 06:31:41 am »
I noticed my laptop has no uninstall beneath the program at start up [the programs or apps you see when you click lower left].
The desktop pc does has a provision to uninstall.
It is not a big deal but I wondered why, and I like to cleanly uninstall which your uninstall does rather than Windows uninstall which leaves remnants behind.

Hello
My program, registry backup, is set for 20 days and to keep 10 backups.
I see that RegBak has 20 backups. I keep reading the green explanation under the days but can't reconcile the 2 numbers. It seems as though I am set to keep 20 which is ok but the 10 throws me off. That seems to say to only keep ten, which seems like a contradiction.
Could someone clarify this?
Thank you

I had reinstalled the program before and this am I went right to desktop after log on  and Tweaking.com's registry backup worked just fine. I guess there were a few things in the mix and sorry about the questions.

I sent you another note. I am dealing with more than one variable which is not what I should do.
I have to take over the laptop in the am and see if tweak is running in desktop.
I then have to see if backups are being recorded.
As I said I'll be in touch.

There seems to be no problem with the desktop so it is probably an issue with me.
The laptop did lose all backups when I installed the new version but I am not concerned about it..

The answer to your question is C:\Reg\Backup

I have looked at both the restore tab, and the Regbackup folder to find backups.

I have to be more careful reporting as my wife uses the laptop and for example this am I said did the tweak program run at logon - I told her to go to desktop to see and she said she forgot to look. It now shows todays date but not yesterday's which I was sure had a manual one.
Please let me get my end straight before you are wrongly influenced by misinformation.
I will be in touch.

Hello
This am I reported that the program seems not to want to run at logon.
I can find it under program filex86 but cannot find the backups where they used to be -C:..... regbak.
Should I uninstall and reinstall?

I am editing as I ran a manual scan and RegBak appeared but unlike the desktop which kept all my previous backups, the laptop lost all with the upgrade to the next version and still does not want to start at log on. The pcs are almost the same.
Once again no complaints just reports.

I am reporting any anomalies not as a criticism but so you have feedback to work on.
My desktop seems to be creating proper backups but I see the program flash on my screen some times when I am doing email -it only happened once.
The laptop seems not to want to start the program. I created, then deleted, then created the schedule and set it to Win 8 .
Should I be doing anything else?
I go right to desktop where it used to work with the previous version.
Hope you find the glitches and wish I could help.

Thank you, Shane.
Ztruker also had a couple of ways to log on to the desktop.
You guys are great.
When I get an error with Tweak's program it is probably this log on to tiles instead of desktop. When I get there quickly there is no issue.
It must be hard for you to cover all the bases. I am still sticking with Tweak's program as it works well.
Thank you for your help.

With 7 on the laptop  goes right to desktop and I see the program running. I was just talking to Ztruker about this. But with 8 on the desktop it goes to  startup not to desktop.
It would be a big favor if you could tell me how to get right to desktop with 8 which goes to start.

I have what I need, thanks.
I could do that or just get to desktop quickly.

May I ask, when you log on do you see your program running and if so, where are you when this occurs?

It is Win 8 Pro and my pc is 64 bit, 6 GB , 1T  with defender and MBAM.

Where would I put the delay as it sounds like it could fix it. Am I alone with this issue?

When I log on, I see the start screen then click desktop where Tweak I running.

Maybe getting to desktop sooner would help??

1-I boot up
2-see a green default screen(not desktop)
3-click on it
4-a log on screen appears
5-I see the start icons and click on desktop where I then see the program running.

I have Defender's real time protection running but beside that I don't know of anything.

I think it is the sequence above as I can't get to desktop where the program is running fast enough. If I get to desktop in time the program starts and runs ok.
Either that or when the program doesn't start too quickly it works ok as I have time to get to the desktop where I see it running. I thought with 6 GB ram it would run regardless but I know very little.
I hope I am not the only one with this issue as that would mean I have to figure out what is over my head.

I hope this is attachment is legible and if not tell me what to do.
I can send more because at times they seem to differ.
One said VSS failed and fall back worked etc..
Another would be different.
Perhaps it is because I log on and take a few seconds before I click on desktop where I see the program running.
I don't know how to log on to desktop directly. I have 6 gb ram so I would think two things can be done at once.
Thank you

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Fall back method
« on: January 02, 2013, 05:49:02 am »
My pcs are reporting that the fall back method is being used.
I watched the red and green and it said 'no' for both.
I hope the backup is still occurring and if I needed to, I could click on the date I want and the system would be restored just like it would using the volume copy service.
I know you will get it and this is only a report and not a complaint.

OK Shane, as long as you know about this I am good with it as I know you will figure it out.
Should we be doing anything in the mean time like suspending the program for the sake of the pc or just continue as is?

Tweaking.com Support & Help / error message Win 8
« on: December 28, 2012, 11:56:02 am »
Hello
I have enclosed a prntscrn of the Dell history report which indicates on three occasions the reg backup seems to have issues. Is this because unlike Win 7  the reg backup is not the first thing I see. The first thing I see is a green screen with Win 8 . I then click on it and it takes me to a login in screen; if I go to desktop, I see the backup taking place.
It is probably working in the background because I do see that the backups are recorded successfully.
Could you tell me how to work around this and avoid these critical errors, or if there is anything I should have to do at all?
Thank you
Peter

I was just reading your message when I noticed the new version.
I installed it and now the folder is where it should be.
The fact that it wasn't is now a moot point.
Thanx again.

HI Shane
I can run a manual backup but not at logon.

I am curious, where are the backups that were labeled Regbak?

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Win 8 issue
« on: December 21, 2012, 11:50:10 am »
Hello
The registry backup did not work at logon. I clicked to edit the schedule and changed the default to Win 8. I rebooted and still no luck. I noticed it is installed where it was with Win 7[prog files(86], but I cannot find the Regbak where I could view the backups.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I reinstall over this program?
Thank you
Peter

Ok, I will check off 'run under system account' and see if both admin and standard accounts will run when I log on.

If I run under system account will that make the reg back up whether it is admin or standard?

If I have this right, I go to the task scheduler and set up the registry backup under a diifferent account; in this case the standard one.
Any quick tip as to how to do it?
