Very odd. Not sure why it isnt working for you.

Shane

When I go to the security tab of EppOobe.etl  it shows a message saying "To continue you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties. Do you want to continue?"

Yet it works fine when you run it manually from the task scheduler itself?

Shane

Tried this moment, and it seems to not work anymore.

Nope, the error log file is empty.

The thing with running a scheduled task under the system account is that it wont show on the desktop. Such as with my registry backup program. If I have it run under the system account it wont show on the desktop.

Shane

Well, I don't want this task showed on desktop. It's a simple delete command contained on a cmd script.

What user account do you have it running as?

     <UserId>S-1-5-18</UserId>
      <RunLevel>LeastPrivilege</RunLevel>

Also have it run with admin privileges.

Shane

S-1-5-18: %systemroot%\system32\config\systemprofile  = SYSTEM
Tried Admin privileges before, no-go.
Even with admin privileges, in status column appears "In queue", but at the end it doesn't do anything.

Of course with the exception that it works if I run the task manually.

You should know that I need this task to fix this recurrent bug:

I have a problem with a task in my Task Scheduler. It works ok if I run it manually (right-click on the task -> run) , but it doesn't work as a scheduled task.

It should be executed automatically when a certain event id occurs.

In my attachment you'll find the task exported in the xml format + the cmd script I want to run.

Windows 7 X64 Ultimate here.

Ideas?

This isn't true if you select "Safe mode with Networking" option.

I had to re-format my computer again but got something  and then I had to format my system  where I have a virus problem!

I scan my system with many portable protection programs but unfortunately this software has detected Windows files as malware and I keep removing process system files, and other malicious software including detected your program! as(Malware)

Remember that all Shane's software is legitimate, even though some protection programs can state the contrary.

If your video card doesn't support Shader 2.0, then you have a very ancient configuration (odd to believe) or a very old game that doesn't detect properly your card.

Please post here your hardware requirements + the game you're trying to play.

I do not know where can I get a video card and I have checked, but did not find any dates there?
And how it looks is it? the Video card?

If you're writing here it's because you have a video card on your computer, connected to the monitor.

If you have Windows 7:
Start menu -> right-click on Computer, click on Properties,  then click on Device Manager entry in the left column.
Double-click on Display Adapters section... it will appear the name of your video card. Select it, and Right click on it -> Properties.
Open the Drivers tab (next to General Tab) and you will see the date and the version of your video drivers.

If you have Windows XP:
Start menu  -> right-click on My Computer, click on Properties, then click on Hardware Tab, then you will see Device Manager.
Double-click on Display Adapters section... it will appear the name of your video card. Select it, and right-click on it -> Properties.
Open the Drivers tab (next to General Tab) and you will see the date and the version of your video drivers.

Cool  Thanks a lot

Chris

I don't have Teamviewer (currently) so I'd like to know if it's working, after your test.

Will this run automatically even after I reboot?

Chris

No, you can do it creating a new task in Task Scheduler.
I left a Windows startup link two posts ago.

Neroilo

Thanks for the reply. I have never compiled a script before (don't know how really, I have never taken the time to learn, I know I should. I'm not a tech but not a novice either lol).

Chris

I uploaded it here:
http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=096aaca909b00dfbc6af2d0e563c5443

Wait 25 seconds, and a download button will appear at bottom.

To test it soon, I suggest you to run the executable when the annoying popup appears ... of course it's not my code, but at maximum it won't do nothing on your system.
If your antivirus recognizes it as a virus, add it in your exclusion list or disable it temporarily.

Hey Shane

After I'm done with remote log in and I close out. How do I keep Teamviewer from showing menu box with "OK, Buy License, and Like" on remote machine and the one I'm using to remote log into? It's a little annoying. Is this something I may have to deal with since it's free (the license for this sucker is expensive  :omg: lol). Great program though.

Chris

In this topic there are multiple solutions to hide Teamviewer's sponsored popup:
http://teamviewerforums.com/index.php?topic=1255.0

Three possible solutions:
1) Compile the most recent AutoIT script provided by turkeybaster42 (September 2012)
It is easy to compile an executable file when you have a source code to paste in AutoIT (free programming tool). izogfif posted a note about how it works.

A second suggestion about how it works:

Quote
AutoIt is a very small and standalone application with no reliance on massive runtimes like .NET or VB. All you need to run AutoIt scripts are the main AutoIt executable (AutoIt3.exe) and the script. Scripts can also be encoded into standalone executables with the built-in script compiler Aut2Exe.

Compiling Scripts with Aut2Exe
http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/intro/compiler.htm
Download page:
http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/downloads/

Then, you can run it when needed or put it at Windows startup.

If you had troubles with exe compilation, I'll send you my compiled executable. I think it's always important to read and try all things before to download them without a single effort.

2) Install clickoff as explained by tarpanet (he says it works on 64-bit OSes).

However, remember this official note written by the clickoff creator (make a registry backup before):
Quote
Q: Does ClickOff work with Windows Vista/Windows 7?
A: I've had reports stating both, it does or doesn't work. I don't know, the latest version of windows I use is Windows XP on a netbook. All other machines run Linux. Just try it, it won't break anything.

3) Buy a program like this. But I think it should be your last resort, especially in case you have more programs with sponsored popups.

Microsoft stupid tool takes more than 7 hours analyzing memory!!
And We do not marvel if Microsoft Company has removed this stupid tool from its website.

Probably you didn't read the relative documentation here:

Quote from: Spotlight
After those 6 tests complete, the tool runs another pass using the same tests and will continue running pass after pass until you exit the software. Typically, though, one pass should be enough to tell whether or not the memory is faulty.

Quote from: Spotlight
After each test completes, the tool displays a Succeeded or Failed message.

Leave it to MS to remove a useful tool lol

I think Softpedia is a real download saver.  They store almost all reviewed programs in a second download location. :cheesy:

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: time to load
« on: October 22, 2012, 09:39:52 am »
It takes about 40 seconds for the registry backup to begin to load on my laptop which is not a problem for me.

How do you know that Registry Backup takes 40 seconds to load?

Probably you wanted to say that your Windows 7 takes 40 seconds to load.
In this case, I think it could be normal.

My Windows 7 takes 40-45 seconds, because I have Norton Ghost at the startup.

Windows 7 SP2 will contain a lot of performance improvements but probably we have to wait until the next year.

If you use Revo Uninstaller your are removing the program.

Not only that, it includes also an autorun manager.

@peterr:
Btw, CCleaner is more than sufficient for this purpose.

not include XP ISO file ?

But there is no download link for XP ?

Exactly, because legally talking you can't download a genuine XP iso image for free, without a Microsoft subscription.

Here there is an interesting discussion about it:
http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/151924-windows-xp-genuine-original-iso/

99
Personally I think the best choice for a novice user would be a portable antivirus or a portable antispyware, so there is no need to use an installer or a permanent internet connection.
About antirootkits, I never used them to clean an infected system, but it could be just luck.

Writing your quick list may be a good idea too.

100
There are so many links I could give the user, some tools find things that others dont. I am not sure what is best to have there, if anything.

In this case, there is a quick selection link of rootkit scanners here:
